Cooking with Bird

I am so lucky to have a friend like Birdie!  Not only did she come volunteer for two weeks but she also came and tought a cooking class.  Yesterday was the first of two classes and the kids are so excited.  Monday was Pizza making and no bake cookies.   To say they loved it was an understatement.  We had 10 kids participate.  Here is what we did:

Birdie got everything pre-set so we could be as organized as possible.

Sauce, Cheese and Veggies were cut and separated.

Dough had been made that morning.

When the kids came they sat to listen what they would be doing.  Birdie went over some kitchen safety and started a demonstration of how to make a pizza.

The kids were so good!  They sat waiting and listening to instructions.  It was amazing!!!

Aravind P was smacking his lips while Birdie was making the demo pizza.  He had been excited for this for a week since he signed up.

Voila!

Now it was their turn!

After the pizzas went on to the flat top to cook with a cover over them they washed their hands and sat back down for part two of the class.  COOKIES!

The items were set out and pre-measured with a recipe.

They had their demo and then it was their turn.

Saranraj, Arun and Mohan were paired together.

Vijaya and Nagalakshmi A. were paired with Jeeva and Aravind P. and they took such good care of the little boys letting them help and sharing.  It was so cute.  They are good girls!

Monisha, Ambiga and Megala were paired together.

After the cookies were rolled they put them all on plates, cleaned up

Started to gather around the tables.  The smell of cooked pizza was in the air.

We had a little leftover orange concentrate from the cookies so we mixed up some drinks for them with concentrate, honey and water.  Improvise!

They liked it!

Then it was time to eat!

When they were finished with all the pizza and the cookies Birdie had a special apron for them to sign.  It was another added bonus and they were so excited for her to wear it.   Birdie is going down in history for being AWESOME!
